At 0954 this morning the Dighton Fire Department responded to 954 Oak Street for a structure fire. Original reports were reported as a fire in the attic. Car 1 requested a working fire assignment while en-route. Engine 1 was the first apparatus on scene and made a quick interior attack. Car 1 arrived shortly after Engine 1 and established command. The bulk of the fire was in the attic and was knocked down quickly. Additional crews arrived on scene to assist in bringing the fire under control, overhaul and ventilate. Fire was brought under control within approximately 30 minutes of first arriving crews. The residents and their pet got out of the house safely.
Berkley and Taunton provided assistance on scene while Rehoboth and Swansea covered our stations to cover the rest of the town should another incident arrive. The Swansea engine responded to assist a Berkley ambulance with a medical while we worked this fire.
Chief Christopher Maguy would like to thank all of our mutual aid partners who came out to assist and commend and thank Dighton Fire personnel for their work on scene.
